There are some dreams that don’t really leave you.

You may step away from them. You may take a different path. You may even convince yourself that maybe the timing just wasn’t right. But somewhere deep down, you know there’s still a part of that dream waiting for you.

For me, that dream has always been Island Life.

My love for the Caribbean has never been something I could easily explain. It’s more than the beaches, the sunshine, the food, the music, or the beautiful landscapes. It’s the feeling I get when I’m there. The way I feel connected to the culture, the people, the rhythm of life, and the energy of the islands.

Sometimes I genuinely feel like I was made for the Caribbean in the same way the Caribbean was made for me.

And maybe that’s why, even after everything, I still feel called back.

A few years ago, I started my Island Life journey with the dream of becoming a Brooklyn girl who decided to take on a new life in the Caribbean. I wanted to experience what it would be like to build a life somewhere completely different from the one I had always known.

I chose Trinidad as the place to begin that chapter.

And while that chapter ultimately didn’t work out the way I hoped, it wasn’t because I stopped loving the Caribbean. And it wasn’t because I stopped believing in the dream.

Life in Trinidad became difficult for me in ways that made me realize I needed to leave. Which was a hard decision, especially because I had invested so much of myself into the idea of Island Life.

But leaving Trinidad didn’t mean leaving the dream behind.

If anything, it gave me a better understanding of what I want this journey to be.

I don’t want Island Life to simply be about moving to an island and pretending that everything is perfect. I want to experience the Caribbean honestly. I want to explore what it means to build a life there, spend meaningful time in different islands, learn from the people and communities around me, and share both the beauty and the realities that come with it.

And now, I’m ready to start again. I’m heading back to the Caribbean in 2027. This time, I’m bringing everything I’ve learned with me.

I’m bringing the lessons from my first attempt. I’m bringing a deeper appreciation for the region that I love. I’m bringing my curiosity, my camera, my stories, and a much clearer understanding of who I am and what I want this journey to become.

Most importantly, I’m bringing the love that started this whole thing in the first place.

The Caribbean has been a huge part of my life and my identity as a creator. From traveling through different islands to experiencing Carnival, eating the food, meeting people, learning history and culture, and sharing these experiences with you, I’ve realized that this isn’t just a destination category for me.

It’s a part of my story.

And I don’t think my Island Life story is finished.

I think I’m just turning the page.

So this is me officially saying:

I’m restarting my Island Life journey.

I don’t know exactly where this road will take me. I don’t know which island will become the next chapter, how long I’ll stay, or what unexpected experiences will come along the way.

But I know I’m ready to find out.

And maybe that’s the beauty of Island Life.

It’s not about having every detail figured out.

It’s about being willing to go.

So, Caribbean, I’m coming back.

And this time, I’m not just coming to visit.

I’m coming to continue the journey.
