If you read my recent post, “I Made It To My 25th State… Now What?!” then you would have read that I lost the excitement behind my travel journey. And if you didn’t read it, I linked it. It’s underlined in the first sentence. However, if you don’t feel like reading it, I basically said that once I reached my 25th state, the magic faded. Yup, the excitement to see all 50 states had left the building. And I also mentioned that I’m not sure how I will feel once I’ve completed my travel journey.
Now to express my feelings further, I am afraid that when I’ve visited the rest of the Countries, US States, and Territories that I have left, I won’t feel any different than I do now.
Until I read this quote today by one of my favorite travelers, Anthony Bourdain,
It seems that the more places I see, the bigger I realize the world to be. The more I realize how relatively little I know about it, how many places I have still to go, how much more there is to learn. Maybe that’s enlightenment enough, to know that there is no final resting place of the mind, no moment of smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom, at least for me, means realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go.
This quote really resonated with me because it made me realize that there are many so more feelings of excitement to come, and they’re waiting for me in all the new destinations I have yet to visit. And when I’ve accomplished my travel journey, there will be many more cities still waiting up for me!
So this quote will serve as a reminder, and will be the words that I carry with me this October, and onward in my travel journey.
Thanks, Anthony.
